What better
way could there be to celebrate Independence Day than by going camping and
watching a spectacular fireworks show? We’ve rounded up some fantastic
celebrations across the country for you and your family to enjoy that have
great places to camp nearby:
San Diego, California
July 4th
This annual event is the largest fireworks show on the West Coast.
Beginning at 9:00 pm, San Diego’s North Bay will light up with a spectacular
display set to original music. The theme of this year’s show is “A Salute to
the Military Families of our Service Heroes.” An estimated 300,000 -500,000
people turn out for the fireworks which are set off from four barges in the
bay. Event organizers say that the best viewing locations include Shelter
Island, Harbor Island, North/South Embarcadero, Seaport Village, Coronado
Landing, Liberty Station, Little Italy and the Port of San Diego’s
parks.

4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza
July 4th
This fireworks show over Colorado’s largest natural lake is
consistently ranked as one of the best shows in the country, so plan to
arrive early as it attracts a huge crowd. The show doesn’t begin until it is
fully dark, which is closer to 10:00 pm. According to the Grand Lake Chamber,
it can take an extended amount of time to exit Grand Lake after the show, but
there’s no reason to hurry —many venues offer food and music afterwards.
Earlier in the day, the Rotary Club hosts its annual pancake breakfast, and
for some old-fashioned fun, there’s bingo to be played in the Town Park
before the fireworks begin.

the folk rock duo The Sisterhood. Plus, the event’s 30-minute fireworks show,
the largest one in the country, is synchronized to a live performance by the
GRAMMY-winning Nashville Symphony! During the day, a Family Fun Zone will be
open at Music City Walk of Fame Park from Noon to 4:00 pm.

the best viewing locations are on the lawn of the Perry’s Victory Memorial
and along the seawall. Make plans to come early to enjoy the open-air Freedom
Concert performed by the Flyin Jays on the Monument patio beginning at 4:30
