    Riverside
    Campground

    Riverside Campground is one of the
    best camping sites in the Big Sur area. The campground has both tent and RV
    sites, and provides some great amenities.

    Location:

    This campground is
    located right along the beautiful Big Sur River, about 22 miles south of
    Carmel. Numerous hiking trails and the beach are only 10 minutes away.
    Campers here may get the chance to see California Grey Whales, which migrate
    along the coast two times a year. Photography lovers should stop by McWay
    Falls, one of the most scenic areas in Big Sur. Drive along the Old Coast
    Road for more incredible views of the surrounding landscape.

      Grills: Enjoy cooking your own food with the grills

      Sites: This campground has 28 available tent sites along the Big Sur River.
      Picnic tables, fire pits, laundry facilities, and showers are all provided
      here. Sites start at $50 a night along the river, $45 off
      river.
    • RV Camping: There are 14 RV sites available, all
      with 20 amp electricity and water hookups, fire pits, and picnic tables.
      Rates start at $55 on the river, and $50 off
      river.

    KOA

    This campground has generated many positive
    reviews thanks to the wide range of accommodation options, friendly staff,
    fun amenities, and great location.

    Location:

    Santa Margarita KOA
    Campground is found just minutes outside Santa Margarita Lake, and not far from
    sights such as the Hearst Castle, Madonna Inn, Pismo Beach, and Local Hot
    Springs.

    Amenities:

    This campsite is known
    for having some great amenities. It’s highly unlikely you’ll find yourself
    getting bored during your stay here.

    • Free WiFi:
      The campground provides complimentary WiFi to each
      site.
    • Swimming Pool: Enjoy getting some exercise or just
      relax inside this well-maintained pool. Available from May through
      October.
    • Disc-Golf 9 Hole Course: Head to the disc-golf
      course for some friendly competition. Installed by professional disc-golfers
      with families in mind, this course offers a gentle terrain and fun
      atmosphere.
    • Camping Store: Grab any last minute supplies
      you need here.
    • Fishing Gear: Rent some poles and head to
      nearby Santa Margarita Lake for some of the best fishing in the Central
      Coast.

    Accommodation:

    There
    are many options when it comes to accommodation, so plan ahead and choose
    what works best for you.

    • Tent Sites: There are
      four separate tent sites to choose from, each one unique. They can
      accommodate up to 8 people, and are the least expensive camping
      option.
    • RV Sites: Choose from one of the nine different
      site options. Both back in and pull through sites are
      available.
    • Cabin Sites: Those wishing to sleep in
      something a little more luxurious can stay in one of the nine cabins
      available. All of the cabins provide everything needed to feel right at home,
      including beds and bathrooms. Some cabins provide a full kitchen and multiple
      bedrooms.
    • Yurt Sites: There are 3 yurts available, each
      one differing in size and location. These are a fun way to combine a tent and
      cabin experience.
