Cool! These Campgrounds Have Their Own
Water Parks!
Happy Camper Blog
Water parks offer a fun way to beat the
summer heat, and kids just can’t seem to get enough of them. The great news
is that there are campgrounds across the country that have their own water
parks built right in, so you can accomplish two things in one – enjoy a great
family camping trip and have plenty of cool, refreshing fun without leaving
the campground! Here are a few choices to
consider:
Ocean City, Maryland
This 600-site campground pays tribute to the
American Old West and has a water park that offers attractions
for all ages. There’s the Waterin’ Hole, a shallow wading pool
that features a covered wagon, mini-slides, cactus
fountains and water sprays ideal for the
younger ones. Older kids and adults can race each other down Red Bird’s
Mountain, a giant triple-lane waterslide or take a ride on the Tubin’ Flumes.
For a more relaxing experience, guests can float the day away on the Lazy
River. Campers at Frontier Town and its sister campground, Fort Whaley,
receive free access to the water park.
Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park
Camp-Resort at Lazy River
Gardiner, New
York
Set on 90 lush acres overlooking the Wallkill
River, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort at Lazy River opened a new
interactive splash pad last year called Yogi Bear’s Water Zone. This fun,
40,000 square foot water playground has two 100-foot waterslides, a
750-gallon hydro storm, kiddie slides, a fort, water cannon, spray features
and more. Cabin and campsite rates include use of the park’s amenities for a
family of four.
Nashville Shores Lakeside
Resort
Nashville,
Tennessee
Located just 10 minutes from downtown Nashville
on 14,000-acre Percy Priest Lake, Nashville Shores Lakeside Resort is a
water-lovers paradise that promises “more than one million gallons of summer
fun.” It features Big Kahuna, an exciting raft slide that starts atop a 57-foot
platform and offers plenty of twists and turns, and the 25,000 Breaker Bay
Wave Pool that creates rolling waves up to four feet high. The park also has
a 1,000-foot lazy river called Castaway Creek, and there’s Kowabunga Beach, a
four-story water structure that has more than 70 interactive features,
including four water slides, a giant bucket that tips hundreds of gallons of
water every few minutes, water jets, bridges, tunnels and more. Campers
staying at a cabin or RV site at Nashville Shores receive exclusive discounts
on water park admission.
Mannford, Oklahoma
This 200-acre family-friendly park located 18
miles west of Tulsa has taken the concept of a water park to a whole new
level! Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort at Keystone Lake recently
opened its Wibit floating water park. This massive attraction features dozens
of giant, colorful, inflatable obstacles that offers plenty of water fun for
kids of all ages. Access to the water park is included in campsite
rentals.
Lake Rudolph Campground & RV
Resort
Santa Claus, Indiana
What could be more fun for kids than a water
park? How about one that’s based on Santa Claus? Lake Rudolph Campground
& RV Resort features Santa’s Splash Down Waterpark. It includes two
fiberglass slides, one that’s 344 feet long and the other spanning 296 feet,
and guests slide down both of them on inner tubes. There’s also the Trippo,
the world’s largest inflatable water slide that includes three slides.
All-day rates are $8.95 per person and the rate goes down to $5.95 for the
second consecutive day. For the little ones, there’s the Dasher Splasher
Splash Pad that does not require a paid wristband, and admission is free to
the Blitzen Bay and Baby Blitzen
pools.
Canyon Lake,
Texas
This park is already equipped with a swimming
pool and splash pad, and Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort Hill Country
added a new attraction last year – an interactive water playground. It offers
lots of water-based fun, including water cannons, slides, blasters, a hydro
storm and more. Cabin and campsite rates include use of the park’s amenities
for a family of four.
